What is discernment?!

Discernment speaks of the ability to filter data input and determine the differences in received information then to align with the beneficial path based on the direction one selects.

Spiritual discernment alludes to the maturity in one's spiritual walk with ABBA YAHAWAH through spiritual growth, scriptural knowledge and fortification of our faith in MASHIACH which gives one the capacity to test the spirits and to recognize the presence of RUACH Ha'QODESH or lack thereof in spiritual movement around them.

But strong food belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil ... Hebrews 5:14

Why is discernment important?

Discernment, considered to be a virtue, enables us to recognize truth from lies, good from evil, and God's will from our desires. It is a process by which ABBA YAHAWAH helps an individual make right decisions. Hence, a discerning individual is typically considered to possess wisdom, and be of good judgement.

Discernment is a gift from ABBA YAHAWAH which enables an individual to understand or know the truth about something through the power of RUACH Ha'QODESH (including the ability to perceive the true character or nature of people and the source or meaning of spiritual manifestations).

What do the scriptures say about discernment?

The Bible has many scriptures that speak on discernment in the Old Testament as well as in the New Testament. Apostle Paul actually addresses this topic quite a bit in fact as shall be seen below. In fact, in the Old Testament book of 1 Kings 3 vs 9, King Solomon prayed for wisdom and an understanding heart so that he may be able to discern between good and bad. It is also important to note that in 1 Samuel 16 vs 7, the Prophet Samuel was unable to discern which son of Jesse he was to anoint as King until ABBA YAHAWAH revealed it to him that it was David.

So discernment is very very important.

Now in these days discernment is needed even more, according to 1 Timothy 4 vs 1, so that you see to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on MASHIACH ... as stated in Colossians 2 vs 8

In addition to biblical discourse, on the secular side on the fence, according to Google's online Dictionary it explains that discernment is the ability to judge well or (in Christian contexts) the perception in the absence of judgment with a view to obtaining spiritual guidance and understanding.

The fear of YAHAWAH is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction ... Proverbs 1 vs 7

So much more can be said and addressed concerning the importance of discernment but at this point it is deemed wise to let the scriptures speak.

And so beloved I leave you with this:

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things
